Originally, he worked tirelessly as manager for a local Hatsune Miku convention in the Tsukimino district of Sapporo, Hokkaido, where the Kitakta Family runs the show. (Pun intended.)
The commitment and sheer effort and he puts into this annual tradition led the locals into nicknaming him as the famous "Mister Expo", an alias he would proudly adopt.

However, he was almost always on the cusp of burning out, surviving primarily off of cigarettes much like his future boss, and the burning desire to keep his idol and his own spirit for her going strong.

When the event finally collapsed with dwindling attendee numbers and was cancelled permanently, he was left to be forgotten by the sands of time, before he found himself gapped into Gensokyo before Murasaki...
